In my opinion, i think the meaning of the quote is to always do what is right for you, and to not always think about others. You should always do the right thing at the moment you have to because maybe then it will be late. If you always choose whats best to you it will benefit you later in life. I think this quote is true because you cant depend on nobody but yourself most of the time.
